The 2020 Dodge Challenger: Performance, Specifications, and Configurations

The 2020 Dodge Challenger looks like a muscle car and feels smooth and powerful when you drive it. With prices starting from $29,590 for the base SRT trim level and going up to $71,000 for the most powerful trim level in the lineup, the SRT Hellcat Redeye, there is something for everyone in this year's Dodge Challenger release.

The new Dodge Challenger has space for five passengers and has cargo space in the trunk of about 16.2 cu ft. This gives you ample space to store most of your belongings.

Where the 2020 Dodge Challenger really shines, is in its use of engines. You have three different engine car configurations for the six different trim levels in the lineup. The base SRT trim and the one above it, the GT, utilize a 3.6-liter V6 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This configuration gives you 305 Horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. All the new Dodge Challengers use the Rear Wheel Drive drivetrain, but only the SRT and GT allow you to switch to an All Wheel Drive.

The next two trim levels, the R/T and the R/T Scat, use V8 engines. You get a 5.7-liter V8 engine with the R/T and a 6.4-liter V8 engine with the R/T Scat. The R/T has 375 Horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, while the R/T Scat has 485 Horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque. Both these trims give you the option of choosing between a six-speed or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Finally, you have the SRT Hellcat, and the SRT Hellcat Redeye trims, that use 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engines. The SRT Hellcat has 717 Horsepower and can be matched with either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The SRT Hellcat gives 797 Horsepower and is matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The SRT and GT trims give better fuel economy than the more powerful trim levels, at 19/30/23 in the city, on the highway, and in combined cycles, respectively, with RWD. Comparatively, the R/T gives 16/25/19 when matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the SRT Hellcat Redeye gives 13/22/16 within the city, on the highway, and in combined cycles, respectively.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger makes provisions for basic safety technology, which includes rear-cross traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, automated high beams, and adaptive cruise control. The infotainment system used is the Uconnect-4 system, which includes smartphone integration and makes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay available across all trim levels. You also get a 7-inch touchscreen on the base trim, which can be upgraded to and 8.4-inch touchscreen. A six-speaker audio system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity add the ease of modern technology to this muscle car, although they can all be upgraded.
